The Supreme State Security Prosecution has just reviewed the renewal of the pretrial detention order for the following citizens:
#Yasser_Ayman_Abdelwahid
#Samir_Badr_Ibrahim
Both defendants are being held pending investigation in Case No. 816 of 2025 (Supreme State Security), facing charges brought by the Public Prosecution, including:
- Membership in a terrorist group
- Spreading false news and statements
- Misusing social media platforms
- Promoting the objectives of a terrorist group
- Participating in a criminal conspiracy with the intent to commit a terrorist act
- Committing a crime related to the financing of terrorism
The defendants appeared from their detention at the Tenth Rehabilitation Center (6) and requested to speak to the deputy prosecutor, a request that was denied. The defense present at the hearing requested the defendants’ release under any guarantee deemed appropriate by the Public Prosecution, or the replacement of pretrial detention with one of the precautionary measures stipulated in Article 201 of the Criminal Procedure Code.
Citizen Yasser Ayman Abdelwahid was arrested from his home on January 20, following the monitoring of tweets and posts on social media regarding calls for protests on January 25, under the title “The Joints’ Revolution.” He was detained at an undisclosed security facility before being presented to the Supreme State Security Prosecution.
Samir Badr Ibrahim was arrested from his home on January 22, 2025, taken to a security facility, and presented to the prosecution without being informed of any reasons for his arrest.
At the end of the session, the Supreme State Security Prosecution decided to renew their detention for an additional 15 days.
