Cairo – 19 October 2026
The First Terrorism Circuit of the Cairo Criminal Court, sitting at the Cairo Court of Appeal premises attached to the Badr Rehabilitation Centre, adjourned the trial of journalist Medhat Ramadan, who works for the Shababeek news website, in Felony Case No. 557 of 2025, El Salam First District, from Sunday, 18 October, to the morning of Monday, 19 October 2026, to continue the defence arguments on behalf of the defendants.
The adjournment came after several defence lawyers continued presenting their arguments during Sunday’s hearing until 8:00 p.m. The presiding judge referred to the fatigue experienced by the court panel as a result of the prolonged hearing before deciding to resume proceedings the following day, allowing the lawyer who was addressing the court to complete his arguments.

The case dates back to 28 May 2020, when journalist Medhat Ramadan was arrested at his family’s home in Ashmoun, Menoufia Governorate. At the time, he was not informed of the reasons for his detention or allowed to communicate with his family or lawyer during that period, until he appeared before the Supreme State Security Prosecution on 27 June 2020, approximately one month after his arrest.
